Some cars do also have a separate transmission warning light. This code basically tells you that there is a problem with the transmission control, and more trouble codes will be found in the transmission control module.
Mostly it lightens up, and you will see a P0700 Trouble code. The check engine light will light up even when there is a problem with the transmission.
